THE FILM
KICK IN IRAN is the first feature documentary by Fatima Geza Abdollahyan. The 82 minute film is her graduation project from the University of Television and Film Munich. KICK IN IRAN features the young Iranian athlete Sara Khoshjamal‐Fekri and her female coach Maryam Azarmehr and accompanies them on their way to the Olympic Games 2008 in Beijing over a period of almost one year ‐ from the moment of Sara’s qualification up to her participation and return from Olympia.
KICK IN IRAN is a brave new work production, co‐produced with Bayerischer Rundfunk and Westdeutscher Rundfunk, supported by FilmFernsehFonds Bavaria, Filmboard Hamburg Schleswig‐Holstein, Foerderverein der HFF‐Muenchen and Filmstiftung Northrhine‐Westphalia. Telepool is in charge of worldwide sales. The treatment was awarded with the Gerd‐Ruge‐Stipendium.
KICK IN IRAN will celebrate its World Premier at Sundance 2010, participating in the World Cinema Documentary Competition.
